¿Qué más necesito saber?

  • El grupo de apoyo se reúne el 2ndo Martes de cada mes a las 8pm CEST con duración de 90 minutos. Para las fechas exactas ver al final.

About the group

Our monthly virtual support group is a safe space for international moms in Germany to make connections, share experiences with other mothers around common topics, and discuss issues around parenting, migration, mental health and more.

This group is open to expecting mothers and mothers with children from newborn to up to school age. We are open to anyone who considers themselves a mother or primary caretaker regardless of gender identity or family structure.

How it works

  • We meet over on Zoom once a month for a 90-minute session.

  • A donation in the amount of 5€ is suggested for those who are able to contribute financially. The group is open and welcomes everyone, regardless of ability to pay.

  • This group is facilitated by Johanna Tonn-Straavaldsen. Read more about her here.

  • The group language is English.

Having won the Hessischen Familienpreis this year speaks volumes about this inclusive and engaging new resource for Frankfurt families. We are excited to be partnering with them and enhancing their English language offerings while expanding our reach for in person perinatal support.

  • Maximum 10 participants + 1 facilitator

  • Sliding scale fee for participation for those who are able to contribute financially. The group is open and welcomes everyone, regardless of ability to pay.

Pregnancy is such a unique phase of life and can be empowering and fulfilling but also overwhelming and emotional. For international families navigating a new system of care, pregnancy can bring up a lot of questions, anxieties, and heightened feelings of isolation. 

This is a peer support group and does not serve as a childbirth education course or as a source of medical advice or information.

Topics covered include:

  • The emotional ups and downs of pregnancy and postpartum

  • Relationships with partners, extended family, and friends—setting boundaries and asking for help

  • The transition to parenthood and shifting identities

  • Expectations, worries, and sources of support for the postpartum time

Here’s how it works

  • This is a 4-week group that takes place Tuesdays 10:00-11:30.

  • Meetings take place on Zoom.
